Forms of energy

Today 7/8 OD were learning more about the forms of energy and how energy forms transform into different types of energy.

Students had 4 activities to choose from. One activity involved watching a video and completing a poster or video, 2 involved navigating through a slide and either creating an energy superhero or flow chart slide, and the last activity was a hands on group sorting task.

Here 7/8 OD are in action:

Michael, Tom and Sam worked together to sort the energy images into a number of different categories. Looking forward to seeing their blog post about how they met each of the set tasks for this activity.

Jennah and Hazel worked together to create a poster on the forms of energy with examples of how we use each form of energy on a daily basis.

Jamie and Scott worked together to create an energy superhero each. Their superhero uses lots of different forms of energy to give him/her powers.

Julia and Georgia used their artistic skills and the knowledge they learnt from the Energy Slide to create a very impressive superhero. Looking forward to seeing the finished version on their blogs.

Stefan used what he learnt about energy to create an energy transformation flow chart using the animations on Google Slide.

Ngauru and Bianca created 'Energy Girl' and added information on exactly how she used the different forms of energy.

Ollie and Owen created their superhero online using shapes. The boys have added their superhero to their blog. They have explained how their superhero uses each form of energy.

Other students created a Powtoon about the different forms of energy and their will be some other superheros popping up on students blogs soon.

7/8 OD which activity did you choose and why?

7/8 OD Recent Ativities

In R.E, 7/8 OD have been learning about how 'God is a Mystery' and we all created our very own Psalm. Here are some snippets of what we did, you can click the student's link below each one to leave that student a comment :-)!

Hazel:

Gabrielle

In Social Science, we have been exploring culture, what is it and why it is important. We chose a culture that was important or interesting to us and researched it. On Thursday this week we are going to have a shared lunch to celebrate our hard work and share information on the various cultures we explored.
Georgia used her technology skills to add audio to her culture slides. Check her work out by clicking on the link below:

Jennah completed a comparison between her chosen culture and New Zealand. She shared her comparison on her blog. Visit her blog and leave her a comment.

In Science, we have just started exploring energy. We have looked at the two main types of energy, potential energy and kinetic energy and the Law of conservation of energy. Students had to present their learning in a digital artifact. Some students have still to upload their digital creation to their blog but here are a couple.
Roy and Steven used 'Stop Motion' to show their understanding of potential and kinetic energy.

Zoe and Julia used storyboardthat.com to share the different types of energy we use everyday.

Looking forward to being able to share more of our videos, slides, stop motion animations and Powtoons with you soon.

7/8 OD - Did you find anything particularly challenging when you were creating your digital artifacts? Which presentation tool do you prefer?
